Who is the BFB?

Hi, I’m Sabrina Chevannes – a serial entrepreneur from London. I’ve been running my own companies since 2008 and have had a rollercoaster of a journey along the way!

I didn’t come from an entrepreneurial family; in fact, my whole family work in medicine, which is probably why I started off at medical school, before I quickly realised that that wasn’t the path for me. I was already running my first business whilst still at medical school and it took me another few years to realise that I really wanted to be my own boss!!

I have to say, it hasn’t been easy! And even now, after all these years of experience, there are still days where I wonder why I do all this!

One of the hardest things about my journey is the amount of discrimination I’ve faced, whether because of my race or my gender. While I know that the issues lie with them and not me, it’s still not that easy to take. I’ve learned to read signs and work out who I should not be dealing with and it’s helped me handle things better.

The idea of this blog is to share the stories of racism and sexism in the workplace and to help others who are suffering discrimination.

It’s not just for black female bosses, but naturally, that’s the focus of the blog. Anyone who is an entrepreneur and has faced discrimination of some kind will hopefully find this blog useful.

I am always looking for contributors and people to share their stories, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch!
